The film Jhund inspires and the man who is truly an inspiration makes the nation fall in love with his stellar performance yet again. Yes, we are talking about the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and his power-packed performance in this sports saga which is inspired by the true story of Vijay Barse who started NGO Slum Soccer.
As Vijay Borade, Big B is truly amazing as he takes on the role of a coach training street kids in football. Shot in the many bylanes of a jhopadpatti (slums) in Nagpur, the film delights as it flows from being not just a simple sports biopic but becomes more about the intricacies of life and how one tackles it.
Rinku Rajguru of Sairat fame gives a sincere performance and so do all the boys and girls who performed as slum kids. Though the film tends to drag a bit… perhaps some ‘on point’ editing would have made it crisper, but all in all, it keeps you enthralled.
Will it do well at the box office? Looking at so many big banner films toppling down at the box office like bowling pins, perhaps Jhund would appeal more on the OTT platform than in theatres is our verdict.
