It’s indeed a bad month for music. We lost Lataji just recently and now even before we could recover from the massive loss, legendary music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri, the man who was known for his peppy composition, super hit songs and his love for gold, passed away late night yesterday at the age of 69.
Supposedly, Bappi Lahiri’s condition worsened after he contracted Covid-19 last year. He was in the hospital for the last three months and Dr Deepak Namjoshi who treated him claimed that the iconic musician passed away due to obstructive sleep apnea.
He told PTI, “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) shortly before midnight.”
The devastated family released an official statement that read: “It’s a deeply sad moment for us. Our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take on arrival of Bappa from LA tomorrow mid morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul.
Indeed it’s the end of a golden era with the demise of the great Bappi da.
