Make way for the newest cop in town! That’s right, Ajay Devgn makes his digital series debut donning the avatar of a cop in Disney+ Hotstar’s latest Hotstar Specials’ Rudra – The Edge Of Darkness. Helmed by director Rajesh Mapuskar, the series is a riveting psychological crime-thriller which features  Raashii Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Satyadeep Misra.

Indeed, the six-episode series is an honest remake of the globally successful British series Luther. In fact, many have called the digital series debut of Ajay Devgn “impressive”, “intellectually engaging”, and it further appreciated the direction calling it “simple and straight,” while others said that the show is well-cast and handsomely directed in a way that Ajay Devgn is the front and centre of the hard-core crime-and-grime series.

We agree. There really could not have been a better choice to play the dark but inherently noble character than Ajay Devgn. Raashii Khanna too gives a competent performance as Aliyah Choksi, an intelligent woman with whom Ajay Devgn’s character Rudra, shares crackling chemistry. Their interaction gives the series a rush and a set-up that can only get more interesting in future seasons.

The six-episode thriller moves at a fast pace, not allowing the viewers to hold on to anything for too long. All in all, it is engaging.
