I must rewind here and say that Shobha after starting Society and making it a big success decided to leave us to start her own magazine called ‘Celebrity’. Her husband Sudhir Kilachand was the publisher and Hari who had worked with us was the Advertising Manager. Although the magazine was were well produced and the articles were well written it was not marketed well. For this reason, it had to close down. And Shobha herself admitted that it was one of the biggest mistakes she had made. However, Shobha herself went on to more and more success as she started writing articles for a number of newspapers and magazines which included The Times of India, Mirror, The Week, and many others. Women were both proud and envious of her great success. I was particularly proud because even though she had left us I still consider her a great colleague and a good friend. And we also kept meeting at regular intervals when we had events.

One of the best interviews Shobha had done for us was when Zeenat Aman had got beaten at The Taj Hotel by Sanjay Khan. She had decided to give us an exclusive interview and had come over to my Pent House at Breach Candy together with Ingrid to talk to us. We gave time to Zeenat to get her morale up and later Shobha did the interview. She praised Zeenat and tore into Sanjay Khan for the ill-tempered man that he was. Not only did he loot her money to make his film ‘Abdullah’ but now he beat her up at the Taj Mahal Hotel in front of a number of socialites. Just like this, I remember many other exclusive interviews that were done by us. Many Stars from Raj Kapoor to Dharmendra from Hema Malini to Rekha all came and appreciated our lavish lifestyle.
