Rocking high on adulation at the NBA All Star Celebrity Game was ‘Gully Boy’ Ranveer Singh. As Instagram got flooded with Ranveerians cheering him world-wide, what astonished American commentators and announcers were live audience members cheering on with ‘Apna Time Aayega’ as soon as the Bollywood icon entered the scene. And why not? When America has got second and third generation Indians living in it who devour basketball and love Bollywood simultaneously?

The basketball enthusiast was representing India on the prestigious platform while the game was held at the Wolstein Centre in Cleveland, Ohio. With a number 69 jersey, Gully Boy was seen playing the game with hotshots including Machine Gun Kelly, Jimmie Allen and some others.   As someone coming from the non-western world, the star’s 38 million Instagram following was nothing short of a marvel for many of the commentators to grapple with. 

Upon reflection of the event, our Indian brand ambassador to the game tweeted, “Just keep dreaming.” For some second and third generation Indians in America, the combo of seeing Machine Gun Kelly and Ranveer Singh was a depiction of a blended East-West reality. Indeed, Ranveer, it’s your time now.
