The loss of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar is indeed immense. Prominent members of the Indian diasporas joined together to pay shraddhanjali to their beloved Didi both in person and virtually. Everyone walked down memory lane as they watched a very special video presentation on the life and legacy of the nightingale, prepared by TV Asia.
Consul General Hon. Shri Randhir Jasiwalji said, “She was the part and parcel of the popular culture of India and had an overpowering presence around the world.”
Although people are grieving for this huge loss, there is also certainly a sense of immense pride for the countless achievements and the stellar life Lata ji led for over nine decades.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chairman Dr Navin C. Mehta said, “We are very lucky we are alive in the times when such a legend was on this earth.”
Indeed, Lataji set a great example of Nari Shakti in India and paved a way for the future singers in Bollywood.
Sneh Arts founder SunnyThakkar said, “Didi is the greatest gift and blessing from the universe that will keep on giving for generations to come.”
Lataji’s love for her country and her utmost humility will always be remembered as some of her greatest qualities. Her voice will live on forever.
